I still recall this day very precisely. Me stepping away from the ideal position as an environmental economist and sustainability expert, and embracing a path I call my purpose work. That is being a professional guide to those ready to transform their biggest blocks and step into an authentic, joyful, and thriving life.

The Truth of Our Current Times

Let’s name the big truth of our current times: something is shifting.
And this is happening on a collective level for most women. And men.

People are realising that the positions and jobs they were pursuing for decades are not meant for them. It is time to shift direction and navigate towards the destination I call: your life’s purpose.

This happened to me 5 years ago. This is happening to many of my 1:1 clients and participants of the systemic constellation workshops.

When Work No Longer Feels Right

You see, my own journey of stepping away from a career as a researcher in academia began from a deep personal realization: that true sustainability must include the human element.

After years of working on high-level sustainability projects, I noticed a missing link—people were trying to fix systems while ignoring their own internal depletion. This sparked my passion for understanding how we can align personal wellbeing with professional purpose.

This simple realisation created a clear tension within me: on one hand, I held a truth that was for me the most important to guide me in my everyday life, and on the other hand, I was bound to a path I had been building for years—a workplace and network that I cultivated in a foreign country, in a foreign language.

In other words, it took a lot of effort to get where I was at the time.

The Cost of Living an Unauthentic Life

But the thing is: living an unauthentic life—in other words, not naming the truth that was obvious for me—is too high a cost to pay to stay with the old version of a safe and “stable” reality.

“Living an unauthentic life is too high a cost to pay.”

Signs You Are Not in Your Life’s Purpose

Let me clearly paint for you the difference between an educated profession that maybe you chose—or someone like your parents decided for you—and a potential life’s purpose.

How do we know that we are not in the life’s purpose career path?

  • The Body Knows First

The body knows best: you will have symptoms such as migraines, lower back pain, menstrual pain, insomnia, or digestive issues that many general doctors will say are just “normal.”

In more severe reactions, panic attacks and strong fear states are common. This was my experience.

  • Burnout and Exhaustion

Maybe you fall into the not-so-uncommon anymore, chronic burnout personality—meaning you have prolonged periods when you need to be away from your job for health reasons, mostly due to stress.

  • Low Energy and Lack of Joy

Mental and energy levels are low. You might feel like life does not bring you joy. Thoughts like:
“This is what it is…”
“At least it brings me stability.”
“Well, I can have hobbies…”

  • Escaping Into Side Paths

You begin developing many side projects and sign up for various courses and trainings that are completely different from your current job or profession, and they begin to occupy most of your free time—time that was meant for rest, relaxation, or family.

The Opportunity Within the Shift

So now that you have more clarity, let me share with you that the collective shift that is now being witnessed is a great opportunity to step into the life you were meant to live.

I am honest, and I am a living example that it is possible—and actually so worth it.

Integrating Science and Transformation

Today, I still integrate modern scientific findings into my work and use science-based coaching and therapeutic methods, which make my expertise unique and high quality.

What makes my offerings different is inviting individuals on a journey of unlearning—peeling back layers of cultural conditioning, inherited beliefs, and disconnection from their bodies.

Most mainstream coaching is about mindset. Most therapy is talk therapy. In the long run, in many cases, unfortunately highly ineffective.

Your Path Is Being Shaped Already

So, I just want to show you that thanks to many years of education and later career in science and research, I created a very special path for my work as a Transformational Coach and Therapist—simply because the path I walked shaped me.

And the same works for you.

It takes time to identify where to go. What is your purpose?
It takes time to acknowledge the resources and gifts your current profession gave you.
But it is a journey worth taking.

“We have one life. And this life is a precious thing.”

The First Step Is Yours

If you are part of my community, you understand this very well.

My encouragement for you is to simply take this first step.

Within yourself: acknowledge the truth—do you feel realised in the current job you’re doing?

If the answer is YES—amazing, I am cheering for you!
If there is a hesitation or a clear NO—I believe you are ready for the next step to make something about it.

But it is yours to take.

I can simply share my example and be of service to guide you in the right direction.

With love,

Maja Herrero.
